Camping In Silverwood Lake
The campground is open the whole year round, and it can be very cold in the winter season at 3,378 feet. The campground can be found a forested area, so it is best to just buy firewood at the campground - six dollars for a bundle.
This is an SRA or State Recreation Area, and it’s something to interest everybody including boating, camping, hiking, and fishing. This is an excellent family spot to take the RV and the boat. It isn’t a big lake, and there’s a limit to how many boats on the lake can accommodate during the summer season.
But during the winter season, the lake is rather empty. Boat slips are present in the marina. The maximum trailer length and camper length is 31 feet and 32 feet respectively. This is a huge campground that has 138 camp spots open.
At the marina, a small shop with drinks, food, and fishing supplies is available. Also, there is a small cafe that isn’t open all year.
All boats, kayaks, canoes, personal watercraft, inflatables, sailboards, and float tubes should go through a mandatory inspection. This check-up is intended to prevent the transmission of Zebra Mussels and Quagga.
This invasive species endangers the general public’s recreational opportunities, California’s water delivery infrastructure, and Silverwood Lake’s aquatic habitat. These inspections are necessary to make certain the continued wellbeing and health of Silverwood Lake.
Failure to allow check-up of any watercraft will cause the launch refusal. All boats should be clean, drained, and then dry! If you fail inspection, then you won’t be able to launch for a week!
Silverwood Lake is an excellent vacation spot. It’s found on Mojave River’s West Fork, only approximately one hour from L.A. The lake is an ideal place to escape the city life and chill in the water with kayaking, waterskiing, swimming, or engaging in about any kind of water activity.
Camping is available at the Mesa Campground. It is a huge campground which is spread out around the lake’s southwest tail, with a massive 136 sites, and 3 of which are group sites and 7 are walk-in sites. Parking is nearby, which makes it easy to drop off your gear.
There are numerous amenities and facilities, including fire rings, picnic tables, grills, and a few with RV showers, hook-ups, restrooms, piped water, flush Toilets, showers as well as RV sanitation stations.
Hesperia, the closest city to Silverwood Lake, has various restaurants and shops to purchase camping supplies.
Silverwood Lake has a good largemouth and striped bass population. Other kinds of fish taken here are channel cats, trout, bullheads, and bluegill. The lake is sold yearly with 56,000 rainbow trout.
February to June is the ideal months for trout fishing, and it is possible to go fishing from the Silverwood Lakeshore in the spring. There are a tackle and bait shop as well as snack bar on site.
